4 Resorts You Need To Visit In The US for Self-Care
One of my favorite quotes is “Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.”
Travel enriches you emotionally and mentally through cultural and environmental education. People who travel have a higher level of appreciation of life and are much happier than people who don’t. Travel is a method of self-care, whether it’s a staycation or vacation—but it really boils down to where you stay.
As you may know, the world is slowly opening back up and people are traveling. I mean, just follow @blacktravelfeed or @blacktravelalliance to see for yourself.
I know international travel has a lot of buzz around it, but I don’t want anyone to neglect the beauty of the travel opportunities here in the United States. We really have some gorgeous resorts here and I want to romanticize them, while of course, sharing the with my readers! Here are 5 resort getaways that you should add to your bucket list:
1. Callaway Gardens Resort and Spa: This all-inclusive resort screams self-care. Once you’re on the property, you don’t have to worry about leaving. Everything is there from the food, to the spa, to the beach, natural trail, zip lining and a gorgeous butterfly center. One aspect that makes this resort so unique is that it unites you with nature, which is great for meditation and your overall mental wellbeing. They also offer wellness retreats which is something you MUST try. Just check my past blog, “Callaway Wellness Retreat Vacations, The New Normal For Self Care” to see my experience.
2. Chateau Elan: I stayed here while working on set for Georgia Whirl Productions. If I could sum it up in three words, it would be “luxury self-care.” They have a gorgeous pool with yummy cocktails, the restaurants on site have a large selection of amazing food, and oh, did I mention that they have a winery?! Yes! They have a gorgeous winery that’s perfect for wine lovers and even content creators. They also have a beautiful world class spa with a large variety of self-care services.
3. Grand Hotel Resort and Spa: I traveled here this year for Valentine’s Day and it was remarkable! This resort is located in Alabama, and honestly, I did not expect much because I thought Alabama didn’t have anything luxurious to offer (sorry to all the Alabama readers). But boy was I wrong! They also have a world class spa, gourmet food options, remarkable room service, an indoor pool, a relaxing spa, annnnnd our room had white spa robes in them. If you know me, you know I love white robes. I’ll even go to the extent of calling the hotel before making a trip to see if they offer white robes. These were some of the softest robes I’ve touched. Another cool thing about this resort is that everything is in walking distance, including the private beach. To read more on my experience there, click here to check it out.
4. Atlanta Evergreen Conference Resort: This resort was the kickoff of my monthly self-care staycations. I went here on a staycation sponsored by my boyfriend and it was an experience I’ll never forget! This resort is located in the Stone Mountain park, so I must warn you that you’ll have to pay $20 to get through the gate but I promise you, it’s worth it! Luckily, I was granted the blessing of a complimentary upgrade, so I stayed in a picturesque and spacious suite, that faced the lake, included a living room, mini kitchen and two balconies. There nothing better than waking up and having a cup of tea while sitting on the balcony and hearing the beautiful sounds of nature. They also have a restaurant on site, a spa, and a gorgeous pool that overlooks the lake. This place is just stunning, and I highly recommend staying there for your next staycation.
Luckily if you live in the Atlanta, GA these resorts are not too far, therefore you don’t have to book a flight. They are ideal for self-care staycations but are also perfect for family vacations or baecations.
Life is too short. If you’re reading this, you survived or are surviving a pandemic (and maybe even survived contracting COVID like me). This is all the more reason to travel, enjoy life, and invest in self-care experiences.
