July is over and Hot Girl Summer is Coming To An End

Whew chiiiile! July is finally over and I just am flabbergasted at how my month went! I traveled to Las Vegas, the Bahamas, and Orlando. I was having a HOT GIRL SUMMER with all the traveling and what not. But sis, let me tell you how these trips were! The first trip was to Las Vegas with a guy that I was dating at the time. He went there for a convention he was in, and he invited me, so it was more so of a vacation for me. This was my first time getting flewed out but I’m definitely not about that “flewed out” life ever again!

Now I must say that Vegas is a beautiful city, granted I did not get to turn up like I wanted to, like going to a pool party or popular nightclub, but we did hit up the popular restaurants like In and Out Burger, Grand Lux Cafe, Benihanas, and others. I literally was having a hot girl summer because the heat was really bad and my nose kept bleeding but it was dry, and I wanted to stay indoors for a majority of the time after that. But we did other fun things like a tour on the gondolas at the Venetian Resort which is something I strongly recommend for couples, walked the strip which was pretty cool, relaxed by the pool which happened to be an adult pool. The adult pool scene was interesting because I was not prepared to see what I saw, which were topless women lol! But it looked empowering because one girl took her top off and dived in, and two others followed behind her, and then one more. I don’t think they knew each other, but it just seemed so liberating, and empowering. Each of them were different sizes, and it showed their confidence level, which had me like “yasssssss girls!” But I was not about that life! Plus the guy who I was with kept staring at other women, the entire time! So you know he was definitely staring at the topless women. It got to one point where I had to ask him “um do you know them??” He said no, but kept staring. Now I’m not the jealous type, but it was a little embarrassing to watch the guy you’re with staring at other girls. It’s even more embarrassing when they’re looking at you like '“um, are you with him?” and then I’m the type that’ll look at them and say “nah, sis, I don’t even know who that is” with a Kanye shrug. I mean like why men great until they gotta be great? Lizzo was right, truth hurts.

But on our last night in Vegas, we went to this really nice ball and saw Marsha Ambrosious perform which was beautiful, she looks as amazing as she sounds. However, after the ball, we got into this argument which could have been avoided. I won’t get too much into detail about it, but I felt disrespected and humiliated in front of other people. I don’t care how much money a man has sis, but never let him yell at you or disrespect you in public or even private, EVER! I feel like some men think they have power because of their financial status but the only person who has power over me, is GOD, periodt! I am not the submissive type, so kudos to you if you are. But needless to say, when we got back, I let him know how I felt, tried to be friends with him, then decided “nah, Im good love, enjoy” and then blocked him! Plus he owned like 20 guns and collected brass knuckles. If you ever have to think about blocking someone, you should go ahead and do it! You will dodge so many bullets (this is literally and figuratively). Any sign of toxicity that you see sis, leave it alone!

The next trip was my family reunion cruise to Bahamas and it was one for the books! For some of my family, it was their first cruise, and for others, they haven’t been in years. The thing about cruises is that you already pay for it months in advance, so if you need anything extra, like the fancy food at the steakhouse restaurant, alcoholic beverages, trips to the spa, souvenirs, you can buy it, but you don’t have to. You can literally eat as much as you want, whenever and wherever! Plus, there is unlimited ice cream so there’s that as well. The nightclub scene was dope, the music was on point and everyone was lit! The best thing about cruises is that you can get as lit as you want, and don’t have to worry about driving or paying for an uber, you just walk ya butt to your room and pass out. I remember telling my adopted brother Dy’rek “yo, this is amazing. We are literally in the middle of the ocean at 2am, turning up!” and he agreed. There is no other experience like going on a cruise. When we got to the Bahamas, we learned a lot about the city, but you can see that all in my vlog on youtube. Just know that I love conch fritters, and if you do too, you can see how they are made on my video as well. Overall, the trip was fun and if I could, I would do it all over again.

Lastly, Orlando was my final trip with my dad’s side of the family. I actually went there in June for a hair convention so I wasn't as hype as I usually am when I get there, plus I needed to watch my spending. I was like “ok Davida, you taking these trips, spending money and not making it back, so you need to chill” so I told myself that I was going to chill. We went to Bahama Breeze the first night which is one of my favorite restaurants and had some jerk wings, which was pretty good. They also had a reggae band playing music which was really nice. Here’s a tip: if you ever go to Bahama Breeze, opt to sit outside, that’s where the band plays and this will make your experience even more memorable. The next day, we went to the Premiere Outlets, and my favorite store to go there is Victoria’s Secret. They have bras for like $5-$20, perfume for $3-15, clothes and accessories $2-20. The reason why everything is so inexpensive is because when products go out of season, or they discontinue it, all the stores send their merchandise to the outlet to get rid of it. The next day, we went to Islands of Adventure which broke my heart because I waited for an hour and a half for the new Harry Potter Ride, and they shut it down due to “inclement weather” and it was not even raining yet. BUMMER! Also, I learned a cool thing: if you see a ride offering lines for single riders, go in that line. It’s like having the benefits of the express pass which is like $120 more, the only thing is you may or may not get to ride with your friend. I honestly don’t care about riding with a friend as long as I get to ride and not wait for 2 hours lol! Overall, the trip was fun, I ate good and spent time with my family which was important.

Needless to say, July was a good month. I guess you could say I had a hot girl summer, I traveled, made some memories, moved to Atlanta, changed my IG profile, CUT MY HAIR and gained so much confidence, and had fun. Despite the Vegas trip situation, I still enjoyed my month. But the next time I go to Vegas, I’m definitely going with friends! Now that all the traveling is over, it’s time to get to the bag and make some moves happen.

That’s all for now, see you on the next post and don’t forget to check out my Youtube Channel to get the full details of my trips! Oh yea, comment below on your thoughts and feedback on this blog, I’d love to hear from you!
