7 Reasons Why You Should Choose Press On Nails
Gone are the days where press on nails look basic and obviously fake. Companies like Kiss have changed the game for press on nails because they are making a major come back. As a busy woman, I sometimes don’t have time to sit in a salon and wait to be serviced, nor the time it takes to be serviced! We live in a world like fast food restaurants are booming businesses because people like things fast and valuable, just like press on nails.
I tried to come up with ways that my nails could be cute without having to pay hundreds each month, from regular polish, gel manicures or painting it myself, and none of those equate to the benefits of press on nails. For my birthday this year, I hosted an event and I had so many things to do that I did not have time to get my nails done so I went to the beauty supply store and was in awe of the options I saw. My intentions were to get a box of French tips, but after seeing the options, I ended up purchasing two sets! I got so many compliments on my nails and when I mentioned they were press ons, people did not believe me!
Before we get into the benefits, I do want to address the longevity of them. With my experience, they have lasted up to two weeks, depending on if I am doing things that require heavy lifting or am not gentle. But needless to say, the fact that they last up to two weeks can be a benefit because it gives your nails time to breathe, unlike other options. According to Allure.com “the key to the perfect press-on application is not to overdo it on glue. Just plop a drop at the tip and at the base of your natural nail and drop that nail right on top. Press down on it firmly for a few seconds while the glue dries, and you're basically done.” Boom Waalah! Follow those instructions and you are good go!
So the benefits are as follows:
They Don’t Damage Your Nails-Underneath a press on is a healthy nail. It’s not yellow frail nails like what I experienced with acrylic and gel. If you pop a nail, you’re not at risk for bleeding or cracking your real nails. If a press on nail pops off, guess what? You can glue it back on! Plus if your nail grows underneath them, they won’t get damaged.
There Is A Style For Everyone-I haven’t tried them yet, but Static Nails is a great option because they offer coffin, round, almond, stiletto and square nails with a huge variety of colors and designs. Kiss Nails are my absolute favorite, I use them on the regular. They have sculpted, jellies, fantasy 3-D, jeweled, etc. They are a little cheaper than Static and if you go on Amazon, they have nails options available. Furthermore, Amazon does offer cute press on nail options and you can get a variety pack with 96 nails for less than $10. This leads me to my next benefit…
They are cheaper than other options-they are cheaper with time and money. You can save at least $100 a month with press on nails, nor do you have to spend gas going to the nail salon twice a month for fill ins if you have acrylic. Plus if you wanted to switch it up 4 times a month, you wouldn’t spend as nearly as much as you would at a salon.
They are easy to put on and take off-As stated previously, use the right amount of glue and make sure you use nails that perfectly fit your nail bed, otherwise it won’t look real. To take off, you can either soak them in hot water for 10 minutes or acetone and they will slide off. This helps maintain a healthy nail.
They don’t chip or lose their shine-no matter what you do, the design and color will last. You can take them off and put back on with no problem of chipping.
You look more professional-whether we like it or not ladies, we are judged by our appearance and our nails are one of them. If your nails aren’t done, people will judge you. If you have 3 nails that are chipped or broke off, and you don’t have time to go to the nail salon, people will judge you even more. Press on nails save you from this.
You could be preventing labor trafficking-this only if you don’t go to black business owned nail salons. According to the Huffpost, “People can be brought in and forced to work in a number of different employment settings. And the settings range from nail salons to sweatshops.” So your favorite nail technician could be brought to the US against their will and the only way to go back is to make a certain amount of money. They typically don’t receive the money for their service so you could be a part of the problem. Furthermore, they mentioned “with nail salons for instance, the labor trafficking of Asian women, you can have those women being labor trafficked to work in those salons during the day, and then pulled into sex trafficking at night.” There is more to be said on this topic, especially regarding sex trafficking but that’s for a different blog. It’s all hidden in plain sight and you’ll never know because they can’t tell you, it would put their lives at risk. So we can either be a solution or a contribution to the problem.
I hope you enjoyed this blog as much as I did writing it. Press on nails give you the look of salon quality without having to go to the salon, plus they are safe for your nails and even for the community where trafficking is at an all time high. Now that you have the benefits of not going to the salon, what are you going to do about it going forward?
