They Pay You $17/hr To Distract You From Your Million Dollar Gift
I am a firm believer that everyone in this world should discover their gift. Your job could let you go today or tomorrow, but your gift will always be here for you, and your gift is your God-given purpose in life. It’s something that you do that you love, are very passionate about or are highly skilled in. Whatever your gift is, you need to turn it into a business. Because otherwise, if you are working a regular full-time job, you are probably getting paid about $17 or $18 an hour to forget and distract you from your gift that could be paying you more money.
For example, many of the successful businesses that we see today around us were once a dream by someone who chose to pursue and monetize it. People like Walt Disney and Oprah did not settle for what they were getting paid at one time in their life, they saw their gift on a larger scale and made a business from it. Therefore, if you know your gift, and would like to share it with the world, go for it! Don’t even think about the other people that are already doing what you want to do, your gift will make room for you. If you don’t know what your gift is just yet, know that your gift is already within you, it’s something that you are very good at and do without even thinking about it.
For example, let’s say you enjoy gossiping and informing people about what is going on in the world. You love being the point of reference for the latest news regarding politics, celebrities, etc., why not create your own business from that? Write a blog, create an online talk show, do some YouTube videos on the latest juicy news, build an audience, and monetize from it. If you’re sitting there reading this like, girl what are you saying? Take Oprah Winfrey for example. Everyone knows that Oprah has the best stories on her show and her information is credible, and people love her for that. Giving information, especially inspirational stories, is her gift. Informing people about what is going on in the world is her passion, it is her God given gift.
Let’s play pretend for a moment: pretend that Oprah was a news reporter in her local area. It’s a good job that pays her well, but it distracts her from her billion-dollar gift. If she became content with her position, she would not be as successful as she is today. Look at Oprah now, she is a prosperous billionaire because she used her gift and monetized it by creating her own talk-show. This allowed her to create generational wealth for her and her family. She changed the trajectory of black women not being successful in America. As I mentioned before, in one of my previous blogs, 70% of black women live in poverty after they retire because they did not save enough money while working, and their retirement checks cannot support the lifestyle they have or want after retirement. Why let this be you?
Just think to yourself, next time you are at work, what is your million-dollar gift? What are you really good at? You could be investing your time in creating your dream job, living in your purpose, instead of investing your time in a job that is not paying you your worth. Poverty is not a lack of money, it is a lack of ambition, and a lack of fulfilling your purpose. You were born with a gift given from God, use it! If you have trouble finding your gift, ask other people (the people in your corner, who have a good spirit) what they think your gift is. Don’t ask anyone who is not doing anything with their lives. Ask the people who have already discovered their gifts and are using them. You could also spend time alone and tap into your inner self to discover your gift.
I was using my gift without even realizing it was MY gift. I believe my gift started when I began working at Victoria’s Secret. I was trained to empower women to know their bra size, help them find the right perfume, hyped them up for date night, and so much more. I built relationships with women based off my customer service because I genuinely cared about them. I remember having to work with women who had breast cancer, telling them their options after they had a mastectomy. My love for helping women began at Victoria’s Secret and it was my God given gift.
I also used my gift without even realizing it when I was a detention officer in 2016. I used to write templates for the female inmates to fill out (by the way, this was way out of my job description) and it had questions like: where do you see yourself in 5 years? What do you need to do to get there? What are your strengths and weaknesses? Who is your role model? To my surprise, some of the inmates told me that I was their role model, because I actually cared about them. Caring for women and empowering them was something that I was passionate about and I realized it was my gift. Which is why all three of my brands: Hair Bakery Boutique, Dear Deanndra, and Davida’s Diary are centered around women empowerment. Because I empower other women, I empower myself, and this lets me know that God gave me this gift. Although I was getting paid about $16 an hour, which allowed me to get an apartment, have a nice car, great benefits, and shop from time to time, I had to overwork myself to pay for all that stuff. It was stressful, and tiring, plus the environment including some of the staff, was toxic. I felt that the money was decent, but it was distracting me from using my gift to its full potential.
Now I am certainly not encouraging you to quit your job today or tomorrow, because you will need that job to supply the finances for your business, like the startup costs. This includes getting your LLC, logo designed, website created, merchandise, tools, education workshops, hiring a business mentor, etc. Establish yourself as a business owner, before you become an entrepreneur. Whatever you do, always put God first. Without him, there will be a corruption in your business and even in your personal life.
Don’t worry about who might not support you, soon the number of supporters will exceed the number of non-supporters. I believe the most important supporter of all is God, sometimes it may be you and Him for a season, and that may be what you need so that you are not distracted. Some of us don’t even know that we are distracted until after we’ve been distracted, that could be from relationships, jobs, and friends. You must know that the devil is very crafty. He will distract you with things that sound good, or seem like a good opportunity, or maybe appear to be the perfect relationship when it turns out to be the opposite. However, when you are living in your purpose and using the gift that God gave you, you will not be distracted because you will be so focused on your business.
I believe that God uses entrepreneurship to help people. Help them from toxic relationships, toxic environments, poverty, distractions, depression, and more! Therefore you must identify your spiritual gift, and turn it into a business. Stop wasting time at crappy jobs, with crappy relationships and crappy friends. Anything that you ask for that is according to his agenda, will be given to you.
If you are not working in your purpose and wasting your spiritual gift, you will not live a fruitful life. As long as you are working in your purpose, anything you ask, God will do it for you. So, starting this week, think about what your gift it, and create a business from it. Once you have the business idea created, if you need guidance, you can email me at vidab12364@gmail.com to set up a free 45 minute consultation on your business. We will discuss the purpose of your business, what problem it solves, and what your goals are. After our consultation, you can decide if you want to progress to my 30-day business plan!
Last month, I consulted two women on their businesses and I want to help more. No more of working at a $17/hr job to distract you from your million dollar gift. Let’s take action this month and make room for what God is about to bless you with!
